Nazipur News is an independent digital news publication operated from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and is the data controller for information collected through this website. You can reach us about any privacy matter at newsroom@nazipurnews.com.

This policy applies to this website and to the email newsletters we send. It does not apply to third-party websites we link to, each of which has its own privacy practices.

• Information you give us — the email address you submit to receive a newsletter, and the name, email address and message content you send when you write to us about a tip, correction, letter or commercial enquiry.
• Account information — for the small number of newsroom staff who sign in, an email address and authentication credentials handled by our authentication provider. Ordinary readers do not need an account.
• Technical information — collected automatically by our servers and providers, including IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring page, and the date and time of each request.
• Usage information — which pages are opened, how long a page is read and which links are followed, collected in aggregate to understand what our readers find useful.
• Local preferences — settings such as light or dark theme and recent searches, stored in your own browser's local storage and never transmitted to us.

We use this information to deliver the pages and newsletters you ask for, keep the service secure and available, understand which journalism is being read, respond to your messages, and to sell and serve advertising that funds the newsroom.

Our lawful bases for processing, where such a framework applies to you, are your consent (for newsletters and non-essential cookies), the performance of a service you requested, and our legitimate interest in operating, securing and funding a news website.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to build profiles for anyone other than the advertising and analytics providers described below, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

This website is supported in part by advertising. We work with third-party advertising vendors, including Google, to display advertisements when you visit.

We use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and understand broad reading patterns — which sections are popular, how readers arrive, and where pages perform badly. This data is reviewed in aggregate, and we do not attempt to identify individual readers from it.

Where our hosting or content-delivery providers keep server logs for security and abuse prevention, those logs may include IP addresses and are retained only as long as needed for that purpose.

We use a small number of specialist providers who process data strictly on our instructions and only for the purposes described here.

• Database and authentication — to store published articles, newsletter subscriptions and staff sign-in credentials.
• Email delivery — to send newsletters and reply to your messages.
• Advertising and analytics vendors — as described in the sections above.

Our providers may process data on servers outside Bangladesh, including in the European Union, the United States and Asia. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the contractual protections offered by those providers.

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe, correspondence for as long as needed to handle the matter and any follow-up, and technical logs for a short operational period. Aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be kept indefinitely.

To exercise any of these rights, write to newsroom@nazipurnews.com. We respond within 30 days and may ask for information to confirm your identity before acting on a request. Note that published journalism itself is not deleted on request; requests concerning the content of a story are handled under our Corrections Policy.

• Unsubscribe — every newsletter carries a one-click unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.
• Access and correction — ask us what data we hold about you and have inaccuracies corrected.
• Deletion — ask us to delete data we hold about you, subject to any legal obligation to retain it.
• Objection and withdrawal of consent — object to processing based on legitimate interest, or withdraw consent for cookies and newsletters at any time.
• Browser controls — block or clear cookies, use private browsing, or enable tracking protection in your browser.

The site is served over encrypted connections, administrative access is restricted to named newsroom staff with individual accounts, and our database enforces row-level access rules so that reader-facing content and internal records are kept separate. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

We update this policy whenever our data practices, providers or advertising arrangements change. The current version always appears on this page; material changes will be flagged on the site.
