Careers at Nazipur News

We are building an independent newsroom in Dhaka for readers who want journalism that explains rather than shouts. If that is the kind of work you want to do, we would like to hear from you.

Open roles

There are no advertised vacancies at the moment, but we keep a rolling list of reporters, editors, photographers, designers and engineers who care about the future of journalism in Bangladesh. Send a CV, three examples of your work and a short note on what you would cover to newsroom@nazipurnews.com.

Applications are read by an editor, and we reply to everyone we can. Please do not send attachments larger than 10MB; links to published work are ideal.

What we look for

  • Evidence-based reporting and a demonstrable record of fairness and accuracy.
  • The habit of reading documents other people have not bothered to open.
  • Comfort in a fast, digital-first newsroom where writers publish their own copy.
  • Fluency in English and, for most reporting roles, working knowledge of Bangla.
  • A commitment to transparency, corrections and editorial independence.

Freelance contributors

We commission reported features, analysis, photo essays, explainers and columns from contributors across Bangladesh and the diaspora. A good pitch is two paragraphs: the story in a sentence, then who you will talk to and what you expect to find.

Pitch us at newsroom@nazipurnews.com with a working headline. We pay for commissioned work, agree the fee before reporting begins, and expect contributors to work to the same rules set out in our Editorial Standards.

Internships and equal opportunity

We run a small number of paid internships each year for students and early-career journalists, weighted towards applicants outside Dhaka whose communities are under-reported.

We consider every applicant on merit, without regard to gender, religion, ethnicity, disability or background, and we will make reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process on request.
